A practical account of the data we use.
Astro Stack is an independent research project by Kevin Wimer. This notice explains what information is processed when you visit the site, why it is used, and the choices available to you.
Information processed
When you use Astro Stack, the following categories of information may be processed:
- Usage and device information. Page URLs, referring pages, approximate location, browser and device characteristics, session information, and interactions such as page views, scrolling, searches, outbound clicks, and downloads.
- Technical request information. Hosting and security providers may process IP addresses, timestamps, request details, and similar server-log information to deliver and protect the site.
- Information you choose to provide. If Astro Stack makes a form available and you submit it, the project may receive the fields shown in that form. Astro Stack does not currently offer public user accounts.
Analytics
Astro Stack uses Google Analytics to understand traffic sources, page usage, and engagement. Google Analytics may set a first-party cookie, including a _ga cookie, containing a pseudonymous client identifier. Astro Stack has disabled Google Signals and advertising-personalization signals in its site configuration. No information that directly identifies you should be submitted through analytics.
Learn more about the default information collected in the Google Analytics documentation and how Google uses information from sites that use its services in Google's partner-sites notice.
Astro Stack also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate traffic and performance reporting. Cloudflare describes this service as privacy-first and states that it does not collect or use visitors' personal data. See the Cloudflare Web Analytics overview.
How information is used
Information is used to:
- operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve Astro Stack;
- understand which pages, research, and features are useful;
- respond when you deliberately contact the project or submit information; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect the project, its visitors, and others.
Astro Stack does not sell personal information and does not use site analytics to build advertising profiles. Information may be handled by service providers such as Google, Cloudflare, and the site's hosting infrastructure, or disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law or protect rights and safety.
Retention and security
Analytics and technical information are retained according to the settings and policies of the relevant service provider. Information intentionally submitted to Astro Stack is kept only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose described when it was collected, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and security.
Reasonable safeguards are used, but no website, network transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices
You can limit cookies using your browser settings or use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking analytics may reduce measurement accuracy but should not prevent ordinary use of Astro Stack.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of personal information. To make a request, use the contact route below. Astro Stack may need enough information to understand and verify the request.
